It’s been a while, and I’ve missed you!  I’ve been giving myself some time to breathe “off the porch” and figure out the next steps “beyond the porch”…I hope you will continue the journey with me…

A lot has happened since publishing my memoir, Getting Off the Porch.  I had a book launch tour, was asked to speak at several venues, co-hosted a healing retreat, had two of three kids graduate from HS and begin their adult journey, became a full-time entrepreneur and landed a major contract with an international company, continue to coach brave souls off the porch (my first love), decided to be a flight attendant to serve and see the world (that didn’t quite work out as planned), and since March (COVID-19) I’ve been living and working in Florida to support my sister as she battles on the frontline leading a major hospital in one of the epicenters of this world dilemma.

Though challenging on many levels, and the uncertainty that plagues our country is quite unsettling most days, the opportunity to be in this space of stillness has opened my mind and soul to not only reflect on what’s next but surprisingly has given me the courage to take action and LIVE in my “what’s next”….so what does that mean?

Being away from what has been “home” over the last 4 months, I realized that it is time to close the final chapter of my initial GOTP journey.  In my 40”s, I got the courage to face my life and get off the porch.  This was monumental, and during that time of immense self-discovery and change, I also created a space of safety.  A safe place to “wait it out” until I could see clearly my next steps.  Yes, I had good reasons to “wait it out” like the kids, financial responsibility, and convenience, but was I in reality creating another porch?  Perhaps I was, but I also had to trust the process, and have faith that movement would happen when I was ready.  Guess what?  I’m ready!  Just like with a really good book, it’s bittersweet to turn that last page, but the anticipation of opening a new book soon takes over and a new adventure begins.

The EXCITING NEWS is that being away from my comfort zone has given me the courage to explore and take action on my “what’s next”.  I’ve decided to move forward in all ways (more to come), and I’m open to wherever life leads me.  Several career opportunities have begun to surface, and I know that wherever I land, I will flourish.  I’ve even started dating and giving myself permission to discover who I am now outside of mother, provider, and nurturer.  Let me tell you…It’s like rediscovering who I am as a woman all over again.  The last time I really dated I was in my early twenties…and I am not that girl anymore.  I’m enjoying getting to know this powerful, passionate, sexy, open, and confident woman that is emerging!

Stay tuned! I will continue to include you on my journey Beyond the Porch…and perhaps, just maybe something I share will inspire you to take some steps of your own!

My Takeaways:

  • It is so important to learn how to be still and trust that the clarity to move will come.
  • You will know when you are ready!  Trust yourself.
  • Be brave and courageous when it is time to take action.

My Challenge for you:

  • How have you used the time during Corona Quarantine to get clarity? What will you do with the clarity you’ve gained?
  • Have you been forced to recreate yourself during these challenging times?  What can you do today to begin that process if you haven’t already?  Take one step toward who you choose to be!
